The Federal Agency Sunset Commission introduced Thursday would “make sure that the federal government is turning a good ROI” for U.S. taxpayers, Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas, said Friday on Newsmax.

“It’s something we’ve been trying to get done actually for a few terms here,” Cloud told Newsmax TV’s “Newsline.”

“Texas has a Sunset Commission … and the idea is … you try to get a straight answer on how many agencies exist, and it’s hard to even get a straight answer on agency — how many agencies and programs the federal government has — much less are they being effective. Are they accomplishing what they were purposed to do?”
