New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his election victory.

During a press conference Wednesday, Adams discussed Tuesday’s election results, which included Republican Trump defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in the race for the White House.

“I want to say to our fellow New Yorkers that votes have been counted, and America has elected a new president, incoming President Donald Trump,” Adams said. “As Americans, we respect the will of the people and are committed to the peaceful transfer of power.
