“Video of the Day” – Frank Zappa hires hot young guitarslinger to  join his band in the late ’70’s.  But then realizes he’s gotta show him who’s the boss, straps on his guitar, and begins a two-guitar jam that leaves Vai with a most confused and frustrated look on his face as he tries to follow.  The band is seen laughing in the background.

(when i interviewed Steve upon one of his shows in Chattanooga, i asked him about working for FZ.  he said there were three steps to the audition….the third being, “Now, play a note/chord that’s impossible for a human being to play”.  i think he plays several during this searing duo)
